Dmitri Wright

Dmitri Wright’s Twelve Session Program for the Paraclete Fine Art Class is based upon a mentor model rooted in the traditions of the classical Academy foundations of drawing and composition combined with the principles of the Impressionist Masters discovery of light and color. The Science of Art and The Poetry of Art is key to this program. The Science features Academy craft (proportions, size relationships to build representational form) and the Poetry brings forth (natural abilities and individualized expression inherent in each human person).

Students will learn and experience the art of fine art journaling, sketching, studies, drawing, classical cartoons and wireframe as well as creating a master drawing. In addition, they will experiment with wash drawing and water color painting leading to final project. Balance of Science how to do and Poetry why to do creates a creative that is in touch with these two dimensions function in an integrative fashion.  Art history, color theory and the multiple aspects of composition will be built into the lessons.

Examples from artists spanning from the Renaissance to 20th Century both in Sacred and Secular subjects will be presented as related to material and methods – landscape, figure and still life. These sessions are taught according to learning style and pace of each student. Group assignments and independent study options are available as program advances.
